Evil lives in my neighborhood

A strange event occurred to me.  I came back from my annual Thanksgiving trip to find that my locks had been changed.  Turned out that my apartment was victim of a theft by one of my neighbors. They were not skilled locksmiths.  They beat the lock into submission.  The landlord had to change the locks due to the damage . They are still doing repairs to the door and a broken window.  The local sheriff has captured the villain and I go tomorrow to recover my stuff.  I was concerned my computer might have been taken but it had not.  It got me thinking about what info I keep on it and how much of it is backed up.  I realized that although I do backup regularly I don’t back  up all the data.  I also realized that I keep more personal financial information on it than I would like to get into the hands ofan ID thief.  I need to encrypt more than I do.  I’m making some changes to my system.  Have you considered what information you keep on your computer?  Are you protecting it by backup and other security means?  Better to think about it now than when it is too late.
